River safety is important.  Be safe and comfortable with these suggestions:

River Tips and Safety

Text Box: Personal Items - A good rule of thumb is “Don’t take anything you don’t want to lose or get wet.” That said, if you must take items such as wallets or other valuables, put them in a waterproof bag or container and secure them in the boat. Eagle Bluff is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Eyeglasses should be worn with straps to help prevent loss. Keys should not be taken on the River. We’ll be happy to hold them in the Office during your float.

Drinking Water, juice, or soft drinks can prevent dehydration.  No Glass is allowed on the River.  As for alcohol, only 3.2 beer is permitted and that in moderation.  Saving the alcohol for after your float is safer.

Lunch or snacks are encouraged.  Water activities create hunger, but be safe - put perishable food in coolers with attached lids.  Remember: No Styrofoam.

Text Box: Sun Protection even on cloudy days is necessary. Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a wide brim hat can help protect from sunburn. The river and sun make a powerful combination, so be prepared.
Text Box: Personal Floatation Devices, otherwise known as life jackets, will be provided for all floaters. Children under 12 must wear a life jacket and they are recommended for all, especially for non-swimmers.

River Shoes, or old sneakers, are recommended.  The river bottom is rocky and injuries can result from bare feet.

Dry Clothing and shoes are a welcome change after your float.  It’s best to leave them and a towel in your car, so they don’t become just more wet clothing.  Hot showers are available in the Campground Shower Houses.

Safety Instruction is given after loading your bus.  Further information to make your trip safe and comfortable, including factors that may affect today’s floats, will be discussed.  If you have questions, your Driver will be happy to help.  Just ask!
